Privacy policy

Bothnest helps two parents share one plan for their children. This page says what we store, who can see it, and how to remove it. In short: your family's information is only for your family, and we never sell it or use it for advertising.

What we store

• Your email address, to sign you in and send the emails you ask for.
• Your family: its name, time zone, the parents' names and colours.
• Your children: first names and, if you add them, dates of birth.
• Your plan: custody schedules, holiday arrangements, school hours and no-school days, events (title, time, place, notes), requests, comments and the history of changes.
• Settings: reminder preferences and calendar addresses. Calendar addresses are stored scrambled (hashed), so even we can't read them back.
• Feedback you send us.

Who can see it

• Both parents in your family see the shared plan, requests, comments and history.
• Events you mark private are visible only to you, including in your calendar feed.
• Children don't have accounts. Their information is entered by their parents.
• The people who run Bothnest can access the database only to keep the service running, fix problems you report, or when the law requires it.

What we never do

• We never sell your data or show advertising.
• We never share your family's information with anyone outside your family, except the services below that run Bothnest for us.
• We don't use tracking cookies or third-party analytics.

Services that run Bothnest

• Supabase: database and sign-in (servers in the United States).
• Vercel: hosting the app.
• Resend: sending emails (sign-in links, invites, notifications, reminders).
• Sentry: error reports, without your family's names or schedule.

Counting what works

To see whether Bothnest helps, we count events such as “an invite was accepted” or “a request was answered”. These counts are stored without names, emails, titles or ids that point back to you.

Deleting your data

• You can delete your account at any time in Account. Your sign-in, private events, calendar addresses and the text of your comments are deleted straight away.
• If the other parent still uses Bothnest, the shared plan and its history stay for them, because they're part of the family's record. If you're the only parent, the whole family is deleted.
• Backups are kept for 7 days, after which deleted data is gone for good.

Keeping it safe

Everything travels encrypted. Each family's data is separated by database rules that are tested automatically, so one family can never read another's.
